2nd Grade Homeschool Curriculum

Keep reading to learn about 2nd grade homeschool curriculum options for your homeschooler.

There’s more and more people turning to homeschool every day. It’s a wonderful thing to see parents take hold of their children’s education, knowing they have what it takes simply because they know their child best.

When it comes to choosing the right curriculum, it can be a little overwhelming at first. There are so many options to choose from and not enough guidance on where to begin.

The first thing I tell new homeschooling parents is to take a break. Decompress. Take a few weeks to rest before resetting, or take the whole first year to spend time reading novels, exploring the outdoors and trying new things! There’s no right or wrong way to do this, because every family is different.

The second thing I tell new homeschool parents is to look at different homeschooling styles available. It’s a good way to get an idea of what type of curriculum to look for when you’re not sure.

Whether your a new homeschool parent or a seasoned one looking for your 2nd graders next curriculum choice, I hope you find something here for you!

The Good And The Beautiful

The Good and The Beautiful 2nd grade homeschool curriculum is a great option for teaching all core subjects with a focus on beauty, nature, and family. It highlights God as the creator but doesn’t include any specific religion, instead it uses scripture to point to God as our creator.

It includes engaging activities, artwork, classic stories, and lessons in phonics, reading, and math. The curriculum follows a Charlotte Mason-inspired approach and includes fun learning activities like cutting, pasting, and watching educational videos.

You can choose between ordering physical copies or downloading and printing the curriculum at a lower cost. Free downloads are available for language arts and math, and a free marine biology unit is also offered. Other unit studies are available for purchase in PDF or physical format. I choose to print off all of the curriculum we use from TGTB and use a three hole punch to fit it into a binder. It works great!

The lessons from TGTB are easy for parents to follow, with instructions for both students and parents, making prep time minimal. Science and history are designed for family learning, and there are also electives like bird watching, drawing, and typing.

If you choose TGTB, you will be supporting an organization that supports global causes, having helped fund schools in Africa and partnered with Family Humanitarian to provide clean water through wells. What a curriculum!
